Do you have to increase your weight everyday in order to progressively overload?⠀ ⠀ In short, no!⠀ ⠀ Progressive overload simply implies that in order for a muscle to grow, or strength to be gained, one must be forced to adapt to a tension that is beyond what has previously be endured.⠀ ⠀ Increasing the tension endured by a muscle can occur in many ways:⠀ ▪️increased time under tension at a specific weight⠀ ▪️increasing the reps performed at a specific weight⠀ ▪️improving the form at a specific weight⠀ ▪️AS WELL as simply increasing the weight⠀ ⠀ You cannot expect yourself to hit a massive weight PR every single day; that is simply not feasible, especially when you have been lifting longer, and are already lifting heavier.⠀ ⠀ But, you can hit progressive overload everyday.⠀ ⠀ In this video, I am squatting 245 lbs, a weight I have hit once before, but the last time I did, it was only for 5 reps, with much worse form/depth, and it felt WAY harder.⠀ ⠀ This time, I hit it for 6 reps, my form was SO much stronger, and it felt GREAT!⠀ ⠀ Just because I didn’t increase my weight doesn’t mean I didn’t use progressive overload.⠀ ⠀ Focus on what you CAN do,⠀ Focus on how you CAN push your limits,⠀ Focus on where you CAN level up.⠀ ⠀ Don’t hurt yourself by lifting heavier than you should be, before you are ready, just because you think it’s what you need to do in order to ‘progressively overload’.⠀ ⠀ (second video is 205 x 12)

LoL. I’m enjoying the local food for sure. Am I worried about it? No. I’ll get right back into my workout routine when I get back Monday + all will be well. In the hustle + bustle of life, we tend to get caught up and forget the importance of those things. I’m grateful to have been able to start my year off with a trip like this. So the last 2...probably 3 weeks I have been getting an increasing tightness in my bicep area that stretching has not been easing, felt it was steaming from my shoulder and have just had that confirmed. Rotator cuff is being naughty and I need to do some rehab on that naughty shoulder area. I need to lighten the weights on anything that goes above my head for a few weeks, do some exercises and head back in the see the massage therapist/physiotherapist again next week. If you've been around here much you know I really like Turmeric. More specifically the MAIN chemical in the plant is Curcumin. I take Curcumin daily. The brand sold at COSTCO is the best bang for the buck and is loaded with Curcumin for a good price. Published recently in the journal "Nutrients" was a review of available literature on Turmeric and Cancer. The authors conclude that "curcumin represents a promising candidate as an effective anticancer drug to be used alone or in combination with other drugs." So catch that - they admitted that it can STAND ALONE and affect Cancer. Just another reason I take it daily. This particular "research review" looked at - 12,595 STUDIES from 1924 to 2018. Yeah, big review. The work concludes: curcumin can affect a wide range of molecules involved with cancer cancer, including transcription factors, which are vital for DNA replication; growth factors; cytokines, which are important for cell signaling; and apoptotic proteins, which help control cell death. Yum!

After having a baby, working out has been one of the hardest things for me. I didn’t workout during my pregnancy at all so I have basically picked things up from square one. It’s been extremely difficult and discouraging at first but my gym has made it really easy for me to feel at home and comfortable. 1)We have @doodle.boone to look forward to daily. {10/10 would rate him the best doggo ever} 2)I get to bring my baby boy with me, which is the best part!! I mean we go during nap times but if Jaxx wakes up, I’ve got tons of help and support with him {he is also very entertained by momma doing hip extensions lol} It’s very trying after having a baby, to do anything other than worry about them. BUT once you just take the leap and get out there.. start making yourself a priority, you realize you can multitask and do much more than you’d think. All by yourself. Women are so resilient. Body & Mind as a whole.. So don’t be afraid to take the leap!! Find a gym that works for you and your lifestyle, don’t make excuses for yourself, it can change everything for you!! So much of this I owe to my best friend @desijaramillo. He works his butt off for us and completely motivates me every single day. I have most of the confidence I have because he helps me to see myself the way God sees me. Instead of what I see when I look in the mirror. I love you babe!!
